Dumgoyne - 427m

I tend to climb Dumgoyne when something of significance happens. It just seems to be that hill. I climbed it the day I left school and it was my last hill before my 18th birthday. Today, it was the first hill I drove to and from. I'd been working on driving since 2009 and passed my test in 2011. It took long enough and I am glad now that I can get around more easily. I've climbed all my mountains reliant on other people or trains - not that that's such a bad thing. But when you can't get around in a car, it's easy to wish you could. Now that I've had a licence for several months, the car has hardly helped me at all! Perhaps it's the crazy petrol prices...

Still unused to driving, I felt a bit stressed when I parked at Blanefield. The parking was very limited and I'd hoped not to be parking in tight spaces so soon. Especially in a 206 with a knackered clutch... But enough of that. I walked up to Cantywheery by which time my head was clear again, although much of this walk seems erased from my memory. Maybe it just wasn't memorable?

I missed the summit for sunset and the Moon was rising in the south-east. It was nice to get out, but I wasn't looking forward to the drive home - perhaps it just takes a while to get used to this driving malarkey. I walked back in darkness, jumped in the car and got home without incident - thankfully. ;-)
