Dumgoyne - 427m
Thursday 26th January 2012

Weather/Conditions: Cloudy, windy and snow on top! Pretty cool, all in.
Distance/Ascent/Time: 3.8km / 400m / 2h 40m
Accompanying: Tom

A short day with Tom: he was interested in going up a hill so I picked him up from Glasgow and we headed out to Strathblane. We headed up the route from the distillery - a cold, grey day. It was good to be out with Tom, no matter how much he talked about being unfit. (I really didn't care although he seemed to think I did) The weather was good fun: snow blew in on the wee ridge to the top, and the top was no place to hang around. Big flakes fell from grey clouds not so far away and I was bracing myself against the wind. It was really cold!

We descended the gully of scree down the back of Dumgoyne. I always enjoy running down it. Tom wanted to go onto the Campsie plateau beyond, but I had to get the car back. At home, I'd promised it would be home for lunchtime, but even now I was stretching time. I would have to drive into Glasgow plus another twenty minutes to get home. With limited time left, we made a vow to return again. Next time we'll go up to the plateau... We turned toward the distillery and a faint path brought us back to the ascent path.

All in all, an easy going morning.
